This explains what Property Atlas collects while you use it, why, where it goes and how to have it removed. It is written to be read, not to protect us.
You do not need an account
You can assess a property without signing up, without a password and without giving a name. The assessment runs in your browser and the property lookups run on our server. Nothing about you is required until you choose to ask for something back.
What Atlas collects
The address you assess, and the answers you give. Your goals, budget range, timeframe, priorities, concerns and what is currently on the land. These are held in your own browser so you can move between steps and come back to a result. They are sent to our server only when a lookup or an assessment needs to be worked out.
Your contact details, only if you ask for something. If you request the result by email, or ask for a professional review, we collect your name, email address and phone number so a person can respond. That is the only purpose.
Ordinary technical information. Standard web request data our host records for every visitor, and anonymous usage measurements telling us which steps people abandon so the tool can be improved. We do not use either to identify you.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not pass your details to builders, agents, brokers or other consultants unless you ask us to. We do not publish the addresses people assess, and we do not tell anyone that a particular property was looked at.
Where the property data comes from
Atlas queries public NSW Government spatial services — the geocoded address theme, administrative boundaries, the cadastre, the EPI primary planning layers and hazard mapping. Those services see a coordinate or an address, never who you are. Your browser never contacts them directly; the requests go through our own server so nothing about your session is exposed to a third party.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Assessment progress lives in your browser and you can clear it at any time by clearing site data. Where you have given contact details, those are stored by us and by our form and email providers, whose servers are located outside Australia. Enquiries that do not become projects are kept for two years and then deleted. Where we are engaged, project records are kept for as long as our professional and insurance obligations require.
Getting it back, or getting rid of it
Email fred@greendesignsydney.com.au and ask. We will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it, within a reasonable time and at no charge. You do not need to give a reason.
A word about what Atlas tells you
Atlas produces preliminary, general information about land. It is not planning, legal, financial or valuation advice, it is not a planning certificate, and it is not a statement that any development is permissible or would be approved. It cannot see your title, your easements, your section 10.7 certificate, or anything already built without approval. Confirm everything against a current planning certificate and a qualified professional before spending money. The terms of use set this out in full.
If something goes wrong
Tell us first — the address above — and we will deal with it directly. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
